Rob Sherman Advocacy

April 1, 2006

Today marks 20th anniversary of my becoming
nationally famous social activist

It was twenty years ago, tonight, that I made my first appearance at a Zion City Council meeting to ask the late Mayor Howard Everline to review the constitutionality of having a cross on their city seal, as well as other religious imagery on their seal, street name signs, emergency services uniforms and vehicle, municipal vehicle tax stickers, letterhead and, of course, the notorious water tower.

Two Chicago TV stations sent camera crews.  Burt Constable of the Daily Herald and Eric Zorn of the Chicago Tribune wrote major, front page stories.  All of the Chicago area radio talk shows had me on.  Appearances on Oprah, Phil Donahue, the NBC Today Show, Larry King, CNN Crossfire and Morton Downey, Jr., followed, which led to requests from all across the country for my assistance in getting crosses off of their public property and for assistance in resolving a myriad of other constitutional injustices.

Since then, I started a social advocacy organization called Rob Sherman Advocacy, hosted my own eponymous radio show and TV show, opened a travel agency and trucking company, traveled to virtually every state in the union to teach activists how to win social advocacy battles, ran for State Representative and fought injustice, one victory at a time.  Oh, yeah, and I started this web site.

I've never been busier.  I'm working on about twenty social advocacy issues right now.  Watch this space to see how they develop.

Many thanks to all of the journalists, reporters, show hosts and producers who helped me to successfully resolve injustices by putting the heat from the spotlight of publicity on the issues that I've been pursuing.
